November Family Project

Crazy Hair Day

Tuesday was Crazy Hair Day at school. Hailey told me she wanted bats in her hair. We had a lot of bat rings so we snipped off the ring part and hot glued them to black rubber bands. She enjoyed being a bat girl!

October Family Project

The family project for this month was to create a fall pumpkin or jack-o-lantern. My idea was to use tissue paper/glue on wax paper. I helped her cut out the shape and she did the rest. We have a pumpkin place mat that she decided to try to recreate. I love how she cut out yellow strips of paper too. Good job Hailey!

First Spelling Test

Last Friday Hailey took her first spelling test in school. She scored 100%! She could hardly stand me helping her study and quickly spelled them off. We even did a practice test on paper. She has another one today. Since it is a short week she is having the same test again plus two bonus words (still and clock). Not sure if she will get those right or not but I am proud of her nonetheless. She was most tickled about getting to sit in the awesome school desk I found at the Resale Barn in Texas last week. I called out words last night and made her raise her hand when she was finished. She has always LOVED to play school. Even though she says she does not like school, she does a little. It is growing on her and I can tell. She loves to learn. She despises doing the same thing over and over and over again. Once she has something down, she sees no need to keep doing it. Hence all the bored comments. Sitting still for so long also kills her. She would much prefer a different type of class setting. This leads to her rushing through most things - including outside extra curricular activities. So we are working on slowing down a bit and trying to do things better. When I do get to hear little bits of how her day went, I can tell she was soaking it all in for the good. Proud of you Hailey Rae. Hang in there. School is good. Boring at times yes I totally agree!

5 Star Student

I am posting this for Miss H. Friday mornings in her classroom they get to bring a special drink to enjoy at their desk. This is the reward for keeping all of their behavior sticks at school. She will always have a drink on Friday. She likes to please others, has always responded well to incentives and most of all is just a great kid! So far she has brought orange juice, cranberry juice and a Sunkist!

I Started First Grade

This is when I started school. It is my first day of First Grade. It is fun except the time that I have to sit. I like recess. I like to go to school but I miss my parents. The End.

Swim Lessons

Hailey has been taking swimming lessons on Wednesday afternoon. She told me she really likes her teacher and that she even lets her sit on her leg sometimes. She said her teacher last year never let her do that at all. She then proceeded to tell me that her conclusion was that her teacher last year was not very nice and that Miss Cat is super nice. She is gaining more and more confidence and getting braver to try things out quickly. So proud. Hopefully by the end of the summer she will be a fish or close to it.

The 2nd Tooth I Pulled

* Hailey asked me to video her pulling out another tooth so I filmed just for her. I think she forgot she asked me to video and that she wanted to pull it herself. I told her to just pull it and she got it out on the 2nd attempt. Good thing. I haven't had to do one yet. Yuck and gross. Brady has assisted with the other 4 and she has taken care of the last 2! Way to go Miss Hailey Rae.

The Tooth Fairy left 2 dollars and a York Peppermint Patty (which she shared a piece with everyone)!

Second Note to Teacher

It is Teacher Appreciation Week. Hailey sent this one to school today.
Translation:
I like you. Do you like me cause you are the best teacher in the world. You the best. I will miss you when I am in First Grade.

A Note To My Teacher

Aunt Tessa curled my hair for fun when she came to visit. So pretty!

My New Hair Wrap

Hailey does not like wet hair on her back after she showers. It bugs her big time. Aunt Tessa gifted her with this cool wrap and it fits great. Before showering the other day, she went and made sure it was ready to put on. Thanks Tessa!

Adventure Hailey Climbs Rock Wall at Expo

She had a great time climbing the rock wall and got to go twice since she made it to the top. Her mommy had doubts she could do it but she proved me wrong. She said she was a little scared at first but she did it anyway. Proud of you Hailey!

"Cracker Jack of the Week"

I get to be the "Cracker Jack of the Week" next week! I brought home a paper that I am going to fill out about myself and bring pictures to school. I get to stand next to the teacher and talk.

I also got to pick out of the treasure box today because my teacher said I was the only one using my manners today. I picked out some rubber bracelets!


*She came home with blue marker spots on her nose and eyes and bad hair. Must have been an intense day! Her lips are blue too but that is from her favorite drink at Sonic - the blue coconut slush!

Hailey wanted me to join in on the 3rd 100 piece puzzle so I played along. She has one more to go and is doing that one all by herself already. I am so proud of her!

Hailey loves puzzles and has moved from the 30-48 piece range and completed her first 100 piece puzzle last night! She earned some new puzzles for sleeping in her own bed all night long this entire week. Yeah Hailey!
