First Day of Second Grade!

Hailey had a great first day of Second Grade. This is the first year she admitted that she was a little excited to go to school. It is going to be a great year!

I love that Hailey wanted to bring along her iPod touch to snap a picture of her piggies to remember. We go get her toes painted the day before school starts every year. This year we stopped by for an ice cream cone after!

Getting Ready for Second Grade!

We went backpack shopping yesterday to find a new backpack for the start of her second grade year. The cute ones go quick. Those school supplies will still be there though! Hailey has used the same one for 2 years and it was getting a little worn in spots. Can't believe school is right around the corner. Blah...

Meet "Mud Baby"

Hailey came walking out to the truck yesterday afternoon carrying this!
Meet "Mud Baby". She loves this thing and it is funny to see her take care of it. I have strict instructions to water it at lunch time. She has already fed it this morning. Yes mam!

May Family Project

Yet again we did our family project at the last minute. The assignment was a flower. It looks cuter in person. There is always a writing assignment that goes along with each monthly project. Her favorite part that she wrote about was getting to eat the seeds when she was done. She does love sunflower seeds!

Lil' Bo Peep

The music teacher at school had a program called "Getting Down with Mama Goose" recently. The kids learned upbeat versions of Mother Goose Rhymes. They were asked to come dressed as a character from any rhyme. Hailey went as an updated Lil Bo Peep. It was hilarious to watch. Good performance Miss Hailey Rae!

*This picture cracks me up because they dressed themselves for the afternoon program. She doesn't have her arms in the sleeves. They are hanging below her armpits!

April Family Project

We cut up strips of tissue paper and sprinkled them with water to watercolor her umbrella. Turned out cute!

Donuts with Dad's Day!

Hailey was really excited to have her dad come to school today. She served her dad donuts, they ate together, did a few activities and read.

March Family Project

Pajama Day!

To celebrate the birthday and legacy of Dr. Seuss, the First Graders were allowed to bring a Dr. Seuss book to school and wear their pj's. Hailey wore her silky pajamas. When I picked her up from school, she had her coat and backpack on, her pj's, a George Washington hat and a huge smile carrying her heart family project from February. It made me chuckle seeing her getup! I love Miss H.
